About HCA | Our Community Commitment
In 1969, after just one year of being in operation, the Middle Tennessee United Way approached HCA for a donation. Our co-founder Tommy Frist, Jr. didnt think twice about writing them a check for $3,000, starting a trend of compassionate giving that would become a building block of HCAs legacy.
Today, HCA has numerous programs that encourage and honor volunteerism across the company. The Frist Humanitarian Awards were created in 1972 to honor outstanding individuals for humanitarian and volunteer activities.
Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity fostered the Build a Hospital Build a Home project, and resulted in 39 homes built since 2001. Our HCA Hope Fund is an employee-run, employee-sponsored non-profit charity that supports HCA-affiliated employees in times of need, with grants to assist in everything from home rebuilding after a hurricane to financial support in times of hardship. |
